By creating visuals that exactly matched the couture, we brought everything together into one glamourous show, witnessed live by thousands in the Ziggo Dome and viewed on television by many, many more. Creating perfectly fitting content for Lakedance’s stage designs is a biannual pleasure. This time, Lakedance flipped it up with the joyfully mellow flavours of a tropically-infused pastel world, with some neon mixed in for good measure. A retro lick of 80s callbacks, combined with organic textures and shapes, all seen through the filter of contemporary production values. “The past inside the present”, is what someone with deep thoughts would say. Not that we would know. Also, unicorns.

VISIONS OF TRANCE

I am attentively aware of my surroundings. My mind is clear, I am fully conscious. Why do I feel like I’m floating, though? The air surrounding me becomes palpably thicker by the second. A ring of pure light hovers in the distance, looming over me, keeping the darkness at bay. Mesmerizing harmonies vibrate through my chest. Rhythmically pulsing sound waves become clearly visible before my eyes. I’m not dreaming. I am AWAKE.

AWAKE brings you the very best of the world of trance music. To accompany the music’s feeling of being in a lucid dream-like state, we created a huge visual pack, exploring the liminality between attentive awareness and hazy slumber. We advise not to sleep on this one

DON’T SLEEP ON IT!

On July 6th 2019, in Lathum, dreams came true once again! Dreamfields always brings a wide variety of popular dance styles, which is mirrored perfectly in the highly contrasting styles of each stage. Obviously, we cooked up some sweet visuals to match every style perfectly! Pure prototypical Holland (windmills and all) on the main stage plus a spectacular closing show, 8 and 16-bit Super Mario-esque retro gaming feels on the crossover stage, oriental & martial arts vibes on the hardstyle stage and a LOT of cubes on the raw hardstyle stage. Our VJ for the latter stage almost caught a case of permanently square eyes! We’re professionals though, so no VJs got hurt during the production of this show. Don’t try this at home, kids!

Whilst masses of people gathered for the “Nijmeegse Vierdaagse”, we underwent an endurance test of our own. 7 Days, 3 stages, over 140 hours of VJing: this was Matrixx at the Park 2019.

Our custom visuals shined at the Jupiler (main) stage, Hysteriq stage, and “Rade aan de Kade”, the latter formally a separate event. Whatever styles the DJ’s threw at us, we had the right visualisation to their musical creation! Furthermore, we wowed the audience with a big closing show, performed daily. Nijmegen was glowing brightly for a full week!
